The second annual Feynman Charity Golf Marathon was a huge success. This year the number of golfers increased over 60%. We had 26 golfers who sacrificed their time, bodies and energy for a wonderful cause to raise money for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Lane County. In addition, we had several new sponsors who stepped up to this event and made it possible to raise $35,000. To put this in perspective, it takes $1,000 and about a year to train a volunteer to become a CASA.
We were very fortunate to have great weather all day! Golfers arrived at 6am and were greeted by Dutch Bros volunteers who had coffee and energy drinks. They themselves have a lot of energy! We had 2 lunch sponsors: Hole in the Wall BBQ and Quackers.
Later that afternoon the course was filled with music by DJ Hogan. That added more energy and excitement for the golfers for the last half of the day. The day was capped off with a wonderful awards dinner at the beautiful Emerald Valley Resort banquette room.
The top five fundraisers (and amount raised) are as follows: Chad Cordell: $4,000, Nate Oeming: $3,000, Mark Tschetter: $2,250, Mark Holmes: $1,975 and David Grice: $1,940. Congratulations to the top fundraisers who went above and beyond the $1,000 minimum! There were hole prizes awarded to skilled (longest drive) and not so skilled (most balls lost) challenges as well.
